Monster Trucks!

Have you ever had one of those students who is incredibly difficult to motivate!  I mean one that you can stand on your head and act completely crazy, and they don't even crack a smile!  Well, I have one right now.  This student wants nothing to do with anyone, especially anyone bringing work into their world.  With that being said, this student has spent a great deal of time telling me how awesome monster trucks are.  Every time I see 'Student', I am asked if I followed the directions given to me to buy a monster truck for speech time.

Let me back up a little...My first attempt at speech therapy with Student went like this:

Student-  Do you have any monster trucks?
Me- No, I don't.  Hmm, I should really get some!  A lot of my friends LOVE monster trucks.
Student- I know where you can find some
Me- Really, where?
Student- {Long detailed ramble of where to find said monster trucks}

Ever since, every time I see Student, I am asked if I went to this store.  My problem is that even though Student did a wonderful job providing me with directions, Student has a language impairment.  This caused my ability to follow the directions to decrease...you know how it goes.  At any rate, enough rambling.  After multiple tries with Student, I decided to create my own monster truck activity, since I havent found any monster trucks that I am willing to spend money on at this point!  (ie-none at the local dollar store!)

Monster Truck Initial /S/ Blends is born!

This pack includes /S/ blends targeting initial /sp/, /st/, /sw/, /sn/, /sm/, /sl/, and /sk/.  There are 'sound blending' mats included, so your students can 'drive' or push the /s/ sound over to the next consonant sound to help establish those tricky blends.

There are cards with pictures included for each of the above mentioned sounds.  Print two copies to play as a matching game.

Finally, there are Bingo boards to practice words in a different activity.  There are 4 boards included for students who can read, and 4 boards included with the pictures for your non-readers.

Do you have a lover of monster trucks?  If so, hopefully this will help you out!  I plan on making activities targeting sequencing as well.

Please leave a comment if you know of anywhere that sells affordable monster trucks!  I think Student would love to drive over pictures or crash down blocks while practicing during speech time!

Monster Truck Initial /S/ Blends can be found in my TpT store!  Check it out if you think you can use this!
